Academy Nominations

The following information will assist you in completing your application for a nomination to a United States Service Academy from U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman.  Please review this information carefully to assure that your file is complete, accurate and on time. It is important for the students to also begin the application process with the academies themselves.

Application Process

The applications have been closed for this year. You are invited to apply next year starting in the Spring of 2012.

An application file is considered complete in Senator Lieberman's office when it contains the following six (6) items:

1.    Completed application for nomination: Once received, the file will be updated as soon as possible. Applicants may check their status on-line by logging into the Senator's Service Academy Nomination website. Soon after your application has been completed, you will be sent an acknowledgment.

2.    Official high school transcripts: Must arrive with the application package in a sealed envelope from your guidance counselor.  Official college transcripts must be issued by the appropriate office.

3.    SAT and/or ACT scores.  Applicants may visit the College Board website to retrieve their scores at http://sat.collegeboard.org/home. Students may do the same for the ACT at http://www.actstudent.org/. Students may request that their scores be sent directly to Senator Lieberman's office, SAT code #0237 or ACT code 7114.  Due to the cost of requesting original copies, guidance counselors may submit these scores with the candidate's official transcripts.

4.    Two recommendations.  These letters may be written by individuals (designated by an applicant), by teachers, principals, coaches, employers, clergy, neighbors, or other non-family members who can accurately comment on an applicant's character, abilities and potential for success in an academy environment and subsequently, in military service.  Each recommendation must be limited to one page.  Additional letters beyond the designated two references will not be considered.

5.    Signed Acknowledgment Form.  Complete, sign and mail your acknowledgment form and photo page.

6.    Photograph.  A recent photograph of the applicant is required. Attach photo to the photo page and mail.

Please submit the application materials listed in items 2 through 6 to Senator Lieberman's State Office:

Saving Medicare and Reducing our Debt
