10.15.09
WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today praised the release of $320,502.74 to the Connecticut Department of agriculture to support local and rural agriculture interests, increase the competitiveness of small producers, and promote or create direct marketing opportunities for specialty crop producers. The funds were released by the US Department of Agriculture as a part of the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.
"Supporting Connecticut's local farmers allows us to have access to the freshest and healthiest local produce and crops," Lieberman said. "These funds will help ensure these small businesses thrive and grow during these difficult economic times."
