LIEBERMAN PRAISES PRESIDENT'S LEADERSHIP ON CLIMATE CHANGE
11.25.09
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today issued the following statement in response to the announcement that President Obama will attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen: “The President's decision to attend the climate change talks in Copenhagen next month signals his clear commitment to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Without such American leadership, there will be no progress in stopping the advance of global warming which threatens the people of America and the world. I am hopeful that by announcing a 17 percent pollution reduction target, the President has laid the groundwork for productive negotiations in Copenhagen, including a significant commitment by China to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. Senators Kerry and Graham and I will continue to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver clean energy climate change legislation to the President’s desk this Congress.”
