Dodd, Lieberman Announce Over $3.7 Million for Connecticut Community Health Centers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today announced $3,771,893 in federal funding for Connecticut's community health centers under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Community health center provide access to affordable health care in the nation's most needy communities, offering high quality, family oriented, comprehensive primary and preventive care, regardless of a patients' ability to pay.
"Community Health Centers are on the front lines of health care in Connecticut, providing essential coverage to families and children during these tough economic times," said Dodd. "That is why I am pleased to announce nearly $4 million in federal funding that Connecticut will receive for Community Health Centers from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act."
"I'm pleased that the Recovery Act will send almost $4 million to support community health centers in Connecticut," said Lieberman. "In these economic times, with the state budget badly squeezed, health care providers in our largest cities desperately need this assistance. This funding will enable our state's centers to hire desperately needed staff, extend hours of operation, and expand their services."
