Lieberman Announces $1.1 Million for Senior Nutrition Assistance
03.18.09
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today announced that Connecticut will receive $1,157,671 to support senior nutrition assistance. This new funding, which will support the Home-Delivered Nutrition and Congregate Nutrition programs, was made possible by passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act last month.
"These funds from the Recovery Act are urgently needed to help strengthen the social safety net in our state," said Lieberman. "During these difficult economic times, we must ensure that no older citizen goes hungry and these resources are vital to ensure that does not happen."
