Lieberman Announces $4.076 Million Released for Connecticut National Guard, Marine Corps Reserve Facilities

03.23.09

WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today issued the following statement praising the Department of Defense's release of $4.076 million in American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funding to modernize Connecticut's National Guard and Marine Corps Reserve facilities:

"Connecticut's Guardsmen and Marines have always come to the aid of their fellow citizens at times of war and natural disaster. These funds will help provide the modern facilities they need to continue doing so and create jobs as we weather the current economic storm. I will continue to fight to make sure that the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen of Connecticut receive the support they need to perform their selfless duty."

The fund provides $2.828 million for the National Guard, which will be used to upgrade utilities at Camp Hartell, replace metal roofing at Camp Rell, and install energy management systems at Enfield Armory, Hartford Armory, New Haven AFRC, Norwalk Armory, Rockville Armory, Stratford Armory, and Waterbury Armory. An additional $1.248 million will go to the Marine Corps Reserve Center in New Haven. In total, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act included more than $3 billion for the State of Connecticut.
