Dodd, Lieberman Announce More Than $25 Million in Guaranteed Housing Loans for Connecticut
04.02.09
WASHINGTON -- Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has begun disbursing the first wave of the $10 billion in guaranteed housing loans provided in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to help spur economic and home ownership opportunities. Connecticut will receive $25,879,723 which will provide single family housing loans and loan guarantees for homeownership financing.
"In these tough economic times, the American dream of homeownership is out of reach for far too many Connecticut residents, but with these loans, that is going to change," said Dodd. "These government-guaranteed loans will make the dream of homeownership a reality for many Connecticut families."
"We must ensure that Connecticut's most vulnerable citizens have access to affordable housing ," said Senator Lieberman. "These government-guaranteed loans will help hundreds of Connecticut families be able to afford housing."
