LIEBERMAN PRAISES LOANS FOR CONNECTICUT SMALL BUSINESSES

10.07.10

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) today praised the Small Business Administration’s announcement that Connecticut businesses will receive a total of $3,440,000 in loans as an immediate result of the Small Business Jobs Act, which was signed into law on September 27, 2010 to give our nation’s small businesses support and incentives to help them grow and hire.

“This substantial lending support will help Connecticut’s small businesses drive economic recovery and retain and create jobs in our state,” said Lieberman. “I was proud to support the Small Business Jobs Act and am encouraged that that it is having an immediate impact in Connecticut.”

Senate Passes Postal Reform Bill

On April 25, the U.S. Senate Wednesday passed a strong, bipartisan postal reform bill to preserve the United States Postal Service (USPS) and put it on more solid financial ground for the future.  The 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789) was passed by a 62-37 vote.

“This legislation will change the USPS so it can stay alive throughout the 21st century to serve the people and businesses of this country," Lieberman said.
