DODD, LIEBERMAN STATEMENT ON U.S. ATTORNEY SELECTION

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today released the following statement on President Obama’s selection of David Fein to be the next U.S. Attorney for the State of Connecticut.

“We applaud the President’s decision to nominate David Fein as the next U.S. Attorney for Connecticut.  As U.S. Attorney, he will play a critical role in upholding the law and ensuring justice for the people of our state,” said Dodd and Lieberman. “After an extensive and thorough process that reviewed many extremely qualified candidates, we recommended four individuals to President Obama, any one of whom would have been an excellent U.S. Attorney.  Now that the President has selected David Fein, we will work together to ensure his swift confirmation by the U.S. Senate.”

Last spring, Senators Dodd and Lieberman created an Advisory Panel to assist in the process of making recommendations to the President for U.S. Attorney. The Advisory Panel was composed of seven prominent, highly respected citizens of Connecticut, including a former Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, as well as business and community leaders.

Together with the Advisory Panel, Dodd and Lieberman solicited, screened and interviewed a number of highly qualified, accomplished individuals from Connecticut’s legal community. In September, the senators recommended four individuals to President Obama for the U.S. Attorney role.

David Fein practices law in Stamford as a partner at Wiggin and Dana LLP. He has been a Visiting Lecturer in Law at the Yale Law School for ten years.  Previously, Mr. Fein served as Associate Counsel to President Clinton and as a federal prosecutor for six years in the Southern District of New York. He resides with his family in Old Greenwich.
