LIEBERMAN STATEMENT ON CONNECTICUT DEFENSE PROJECTS IN BUDGET

02.01.10

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) issued the following statement regarding the funding levels for Connecticut Defense projects in the FY 11 budget:

“This budget means that the skilled workers of Connecticut will now build two submarines a year, more F-35s Joint Strike Fighters than ever before, and dozens of the Black Hawk helicopters that the men and women who defend our freedoms depend upon. We in Congress will review every dollar in this budget request to make sure that the funds are well spent, but I am always proud that Connecticut workers do so much to keep our nation safe.”

Senate Passes Postal Reform Bill

On April 25, the U.S. Senate Wednesday passed a strong, bipartisan postal reform bill to preserve the United States Postal Service (USPS) and put it on more solid financial ground for the future.  The 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789) was passed by a 62-37 vote.

“This legislation will change the USPS so it can stay alive throughout the 21st century to serve the people and businesses of this country," Lieberman said.
