LIEBERMAN APPLAUDS OBAMA SIGNING OF JOBS BILL

03.18.10

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) today issued the below statement following President Obama’s signing of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act:

“The jobs bill that President Obama signed into law today will spur job creation and economic growth by giving businesses incentives to hire new workers.  We still have much more work to do, but I am pleased that the Congress and the President have worked together to produce this much-needed boost to our economy.”

Senate Passes Postal Reform Bill

On April 25, the U.S. Senate Wednesday passed a strong, bipartisan postal reform bill to preserve the United States Postal Service (USPS) and put it on more solid financial ground for the future.  The 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789) was passed by a 62-37 vote.

“This legislation will change the USPS so it can stay alive throughout the 21st century to serve the people and businesses of this country," Lieberman said.
