DODD, LIEBERMAN STATEMENT ON JUDICIARY COMMITTEE’S APPROVAL OF U.S ATTORNEY NOMINEE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Joe Lieberman (I-CT) today released the following statement on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s approval of President Obama’s nomination of David Fein to be the next U.S. Attorney for the State of Connecticut.

“President Obama selected David Fein from the four extremely qualified candidates we recommended for the position of U.S. Attorney for Connecticut,” said Senators Dodd and Lieberman.  “We appreciate the Judiciary Committee’s swift approval of this nomination and are confident that David Fein will soon be confirmed by the full Senate so that he can begin the important work of ensuring justice for the people of Connecticut.”

Last spring, Senators Dodd and Lieberman created an Advisory Panel to assist in the process of making recommendations to the President for U.S. Attorney. The Advisory Panel was composed of seven prominent, highly respected citizens of Connecticut, including a former Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, as well as business and community leaders.

Together with the Advisory Panel, Dodd and Lieberman solicited, screened and interviewed a number of highly qualified, accomplished individuals from Connecticut’s legal community. In September, the senators recommended four individuals to President Obama for the U.S. Attorney role.

David Fein practices law in Stamford as a partner at Wiggin and Dana LLP. He has been a Visiting Lecturer in Law at the Yale Law School for ten years.  Previously, Mr. Fein served as Associate Counsel to President Clinton and as a federal prosecutor for six years in the Southern District of New York. He resides with his family in Old Greenwich.
