LIEBERMAN CONGRATULATES NATIONAL CHAMPION LADY HUSKIES

04.07.10

Hartford, CT – Senator Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT) released the following statement after the UCONN Huskies women’s basketball team won their second straight NCAA National Championship.

“The Lady Huskies have once again risen to the challenge.  By winning their 2nd straight and 7th overall national championship, our unbeaten Lady Huskies have shown the country what it means to be the ‘Top Dog’ of women’s college basketball.

“The State of Connecticut cannot be more proud of the Lady Huskies both on and off the basketball court as student-athlete role models.  I congratulate Coach Auriemma and the Lady Huskies on another ‘perfectly’ magical season.”

Senate Passes Postal Reform Bill

On April 25, the U.S. Senate Wednesday passed a strong, bipartisan postal reform bill to preserve the United States Postal Service (USPS) and put it on more solid financial ground for the future.  The 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789) was passed by a 62-37 vote.

“This legislation will change the USPS so it can stay alive throughout the 21st century to serve the people and businesses of this country," Lieberman said.
