LIEBERMAN HONORS BRIAN PETRONELLA

08.09.10

HARTFORD – Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today issued the following statement in memoriam of Brian Petronella:

“I was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Brian Petronella, a leader of our state’s labor movement, a valued member of our community, and a dear friend to me. I have known Brian for years and was deeply moved by his unwavering loyalty to his members, his friends, and his family. Brian Petronella contributed meaningfully to his family’s tradition of leadership in Connecticut’s labor movement that began with his father, Robert, and continued on with Brian and his brother, Ron. Our state was fortunate to have an advocate like Brian Petronella who enriched the lives of thousands through his inspired leadership. My condolences and prayers are with Brian’s wife, Elaine, his daughters, Lindsey and Ashley, and the entire Petronella family.” # # #

Senate Passes Postal Reform Bill

On April 25, the U.S. Senate Wednesday passed a strong, bipartisan postal reform bill to preserve the United States Postal Service (USPS) and put it on more solid financial ground for the future.  The 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789) was passed by a 62-37 vote.

“This legislation will change the USPS so it can stay alive throughout the 21st century to serve the people and businesses of this country," Lieberman said.
