WTNH: Admiral named one of 'Joe's Heroes'

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Senator Joseph Lieberman came to the US Coast Guard Academy to honor someone he considers a hero, Admiral Sandra Stosz, first female superintendent of the Coast Guard Academy.

"That's what it means to me today is having a chance to highlight and showcase this academy, to thank Sen. Lieberman for his years and years of dedicated support, and to recognize the fact that our cadets are those leaders of character for the future," she said.

It also gave the pair a chance to catch up. The two joked about the fact the Admiral, who is the first female superintendent of the Academy, ordered the senator to focus more on the cadets than her.

"Which is a measure of the kind of person she is," Lieberman said.
