Diner Stops

Since the people of Connecticut first elected me to represent them in the United States Senate in 1988, I have taken the opportunity to visit local diners as often as possible to have the chance to sit down, one on one, with the people and families of Connecticut. At these diners, over coffee, scrambled eggs, bagels, and good conversation, I have had the chance to talk with people all over the state about the important issues that affect their lives and their communities.

So far, I have visited more than 130 diners in 60 Connecticut towns. To see if I have visited a diner near you, view the entire list. To recommend your favorite diner click here.

Coffee Conversations

Senator Lieberman and constituents at New Colony Diner. At the Bridgeport Flyer Diner in Milford, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with local residents and students.

I was also glad to hear about the various issues and problems facing my constituents so that I can carry their concerns back to Washington. Not surprisingly, the economy, housing, and basic challenges of daily life weigh heavily on the minds of many. To learn more about my views on this topic click here.

Saving Medicare and Reducing our Debt

On June 28th, Senators Lieberman and Coburn revealed their bipartisan proposal to save Medicare and reduce the debt. The Lieberman/Coburn proposal would save more than $600 billion over 10 years, based on reviews of Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates, and up to an additional $100 billion savings from implementing the program integrity provisions.
