Internships in
Washington, D.C.
Our internship program in Washington, D.C. offers students the opportunity to examine the United States Senate from an insider's point of view. The Washington office is divided into five departments - administrative, press, legislative, scheduling and correspondence. . The Washington office also offers one press internship (full-time only) and one scheduling internship each semester and during the summer, as well as opportunity to work with the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) on which Senator Lieberman is the Chairman. Interested applicants should note a preference for the press internship or the scheduling internship in their application.
Interns in Washington are encouraged to take advantage of all the opportunities the Senate offers. As time permits, they will have the opportunity to observe both the Senate and House chambers in session, take advantage of the Library of Congress, and study the role of the legislative committees.
As a rule, students must commit to work full time during the summer. Fall and Spring applicants must commit to at least two full days per week, with preference given to those who can work as many full days as possible.
